Fashion Headbands: Casual Vs Formal
fashion headbands were accessories meant strictly for casual wear, wearing them with formal attire has become a recent craze in the fashion industry. Wearing just any old headband in a formal situation can turn your fancy outfit into a casual nightmare. This article will discuss which fashion headbands are suitable for those formal occasions and which should be left in the casual section.
A good rule of thumb to start with is that generally fashion headbands suitable for formal situations are also suitable for casual situations. As with almost all fashion trends, this is not a universal rule, but generally all fashion headbands can be used in a casual environment. It is critical to remember that it is the casual settings that accept fancier headbands and not vice versa. Thinking casual headbands will go with all formal settings is setting yourself up for a fashion disaster.
The rule of thumb mentioned is simple enough so long as you don’t get mixed up. The difficulty comes in trying to figure out which fashion headbands are appropriate for formal occasions, since as discussed, almost all headbands can be appropriate in casual environments when matched with the correct outfit. A couple of rules apply that will help you determine which fashion headbands will compliment your formal attire; however these rules are certainly not universal in their application. Good judgment is always imperative when it comes to fashion.
First off, cloth headbands are typically not designed for formal events. Particularly cloth headbands made from the less expensive materials such as cotton, etc. There are certainly exceptions, but typically avoid wearing cloth headbands when you want to be fancy.
Plain headbands (cloth, plastic, and wire) again are typically meant for casual settings. You will find far fewer exceptions to this rule than to the cloth headbands rule. While again not a universal rule, there will almost never be a time when wearing a plain headband with a formal outfit will be suggested. Plain headbands are those that have no decor or design or extras on them.
Fashion headbands that have been decorated with jewels, feathers, sequins, diamonds, etc., are going to be a much better bet for formal occasions. Again, no universal rules exist in fashion, but typically the fancier the decorations found on a fashion headband the more it will be a good fit for those fancier outfits. Also, typically the more embellished a headband is and the more intricate the designs, the more it will be a good choice for those formal events.
Remember that these suggestions, as with all rules in fashion, are not universal and will not always apply. Also remember that with every fashion choice, good judgment is always imperative.
